Semester at Sea

Semester and Sea Adventure

While assisting with the Study Abroad interviews at Chapman University, I learned that Chapman had signed a new affiliate agreement with Semester at Sea. Since I love to travel, that sparked my interest. In March, I submitted my application for three staff positions for the Spring 2008 Voyage . There was a period of anxious waiting until my telephone interview with the Semester at Sea Executive Dean in mid-September. I was offered the administrative assistant position the same day as the interview.

I spent the next few days excitedly telling my family, friends and boss. I submitted a request for a personal leave of absence from Chapman U. to my boss; he supported my request and sent it to the Chancellor and Human Resources. Everyone approved the leave and everything is moving forward. I will be boarding the ship for the around-the-world trip in Nassau, Bahamas on Jan. 19, 2008.
